DRAGONS OPEN REGION 6 ON ROAD AT DODGE CITY

The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team will be the No. 6 seed for the 2024 Region VI/Plains District Tournament, which opens Wednesday at home sites.

The Blue Dragons (19-20) will travel to third-seeded Dodge City at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the DC3 Student Event Center in Dodge City.

The Blue Dragons dropped both regular-season games to the Conquistadors this season.

On September 23 at the Sports Arena, the Blue Dragons won the first set, but saw Dodge City rally to win the next three sets to win 17-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-18.

Almost three weeks later, the Blue Dragons led Dodge City 2-0 in sets, but the Conquistadors rallied for a reserve sweep, 18-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-6.

The semifinals and championship match will be Saturday and Sunday at the Barton Gym in Great Bend.

The Blue Dragon/Conquistador winner will play the No. 2 seed Colby vs. No. 7 seed Seward County match at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The No. 1 Barton/No. 8 Pratt winner will play the No. 4 Butler/No. 5 Garden City winner at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The championship match will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
