DRAGON TRIO REPEATS LEAGUE HONORS SWEEP

Powered by a four-set upset of No. 6 Seward County on Sunday, the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team swept Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week honors for the second-straight week.
Outside hitter Jenna Thorne, setter Chloe Price and middle blocker Kristina Head won KJCCC Player, Setter and Defensive Player of the Week for the second-straight. Thorne shared Player of the Week honors with Barton's Mylena Testoni.
The Blue Dragon trip were major parts of victories over Colby and Seward County, which were the second-place and first-place teams in the Jayhawk West last week.
JENNA THORNE – Co-Player of the Week
Thorne was Hutchinson's go-to player offensively against the Trojans and Saints.
For the week, Thorne averaged 5.12 kills, 1.37 blocks and 2.87 digs while hitting .366 to lead the Blue Dragons. Thorne had her 11th and 12th double-doubles of the season.
Against Colby, Thorne hit .333 on 16 kills with 10 digs and three total blocks to lead Hutchinson to a four-set victory. Then on Sunday at No. 6 Seward County, Thorne had a career-high 25 kills on 46 attacks, hitting .391 to lead Hutchinson to a four-set win over the Saints. Thorne added 13 digs and a career-high eight block assists to help the Blue Dragons to the victory.
This is Thorne's third-straight KJCCC Weekly honor. She has been the Player of the Week in the last two weeks and on February 17, the sophomore from Karitane, New Zealand was the league's defensive player of the week.
CHLOE PRICE - Setter of the Week
Not only is Price setting dynamic matches, but she is currently blocking at a record pace to earn her third-straight league Setter of the Week award.
Price, who last week was also the NJCAA and AVCA National Player of the Week, averaged 9.87 set assists, 3.50 digs and 0.75 services aces per set.
She averaged 1.37 blocks per set and helped the Blue Dragons to 23.5 team blocks in a four-set win at Seward County. Price had 40 assists, three kills, three blocks and seven digs against Colby. She then tallied 39 assists with a personal career-high and Blue Dragon single-match record for a setter of eight total blocks, which include two solo blocks, against Seward County.
Price also had her sixth double-double of the season with a career-high 21 digs against the high-powered Saints.
KRISTINA HEAD - Defensive of the Week
Head set a Blue Dragon single-match school record with 15 total blocks, which helped Hutchinson defeat No. 6 Seward County on Sunday in four sets.
Head had two solo and 13 block assists as Hutchinson racked up 23.5 team blocks against the vaunted Saints offense.
For the week, Head averaged 2.12 blocks per set.
This is the fourth time a Blue Dragon has won KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week honors. In addition to Head's two honors and Thorne's on February 17, libero Shelby Reeder was the league's winner on February 4.
