COFFEYVILLE – Deisheline Mayer Scott became the 10th Hutchinson Community College athlete to punch a ticket for nationals and three others posted personal records on the first day of the Region 6 Outdoor Championships at Veterans' Memorial Stadium.
The Blue Dragons had three individual runner-up finishes on Friday to score 36 points, which is third after 6 of 22 events. Cloud County leads after Friday's competition with 54 points. Barton is second with 41 points. The final day of competition begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Coffeyville.

Mayer Scott finished as runner-up in the women's javelin with a runner-up finish of 151 feet (46.02 meters). That is the second-best mark in Blue Dragon history. Mayer Scott is now the 10th qualifier for the Blue Dragon women for the upcoming NJCAA Outdoor National Championships May 15-17 at Gowans Stadium.
Azariah Dawes finished second in the women's long jump with a PR of 17-10 3/4 (5.45 meters). Yaya Moreno was ninth with a jump of 16-11 1/4 (5.16 meters).
Jordyn Picolet was the regional runner-up at 10,000 meters with a time of 41.12.68. Laura Avila was third with a PR time of 41:21.15, which is the fourth-fastest time in the 10,000 meters in Blue Dragon history.
Seeded seventh, the Blue Dragon 4x800 relay team finished third on Friday. The relay team of Abigail Grantham, Ava Lemaster, Rio Kerven and Picolet posted the fourth-best time in Blue Dragon history of 9:56.70.
