BLUE DRAGON SOCCER CLIMBS TO NO. 12 IN SOCCER RANKINGS

A 3-0 week helps the Blue Dragon women's soccer team jump three spots to No. 12 in the NJCAA Division I National Rankings.

Starting the season with three strong victories, including one over a nationally ranked opponent, the Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team jumped three spots in the first NJCAA Division I national rankings, which were released on Tuesday.

The Blue Dragons jumped up to No. 12 this week. A 2-1 victory over then-No. 12 Trinity Valley on a goal with 12.2 seconds remaining by Poppy Smith started off a great week by Hutchinson. The Blue Dragons then defeated Western Wyoming 3-0 last Wednesday and won 4-0 at NOC-Enid on Sunday.

The Blue Dragons have just one match this week, a 7 p.m. game against Wichita United U18 on Thursday at the Salthawk Soccer Complex.

The No. 12 ranking is the highest Hutchinson has been in the poll since being ranked No. 11 on September 5, 2023.

The Blue Dragons extended their record of consecutive weeks in the national rankings with their 21st-straight appearance in the poll.

This week's Top 5 is Daytona State, Arizona Western, Seminole State, Salt Lake and Navarro.

Cowley (0-0) is No. 11 this week. Butler (1-3) fell eight spots to No. 19.
