NO. 20 BLUE DRAGONS RETURN TO ARENA TO FACE SEWARD COUNTY

The Hutchinson Community College Women's Basketball team returns to the Sports Arena Saturday afternoon to face one of its longtime Jayhawk Conference rivals.
The No. 20-ranked Blue Dragons (7-2, 2-1 KJCCC) will play host to the Seward County Saints (7-2, 2-1 KJCCC) at 4 p.m. at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in a KJCCC battle of two upper-division teams.
The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 3:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Dan Naccarato (color) calling the action. The game will also be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 3:45 p.m.

Early on in Blue Dragon head coach John Ontjes' tenure at Hutchinson, his teams took over as the KJCCC power from Seward County, which captured an NJCAA national championship in 2002 under Jim Littell.
Ontjes is 27-14 against Seward County in his Blue Dragon coaching career.
The Blue Dragons responded nicely to their first league loss last weekend at No. 14 Butler with a resounding 83-46 victory on Tuesday at Independence.
Sophomore Katie Duncan scored a game-high 24 points, while freshman point guard Whitney Brown had her first career double-double with 16 points and a career-best 10 assists. The Blue Dragons grabbed control of the game with a 24-1 run and held the Pirates without a field goal for a stretch of 9 minutes, 5 seconds of the first half.
Seward County brings in the Jayhawk Conference's leading scorer in sophomore guard Avery Marchino, who is averaging 23.0 points per game this season. Marchino is second in the KJCCC in 3-point efficiency at 48.4 percent. She has had six 20-plus-point games, including a season-high 33 against New Mexico Junior College.
The Saints rank third in the KJCCC in scoring at 79.3 points per game and are third in 3-point shooting at 33.0 percent, averaging 7.9 makes per contest.
Seward County comes off its worst offensive game of the season in a 55-45 home loss to No. 25 Coffeyville on Tuesday night. Marchino had 18 points in the loss to the Red Ravens.
The Saints' losses have come to Coffeyville and New Mexico Junior College.
Saturday's meeting will be the 106th in the Hutchinson-Seward County rivalry. The Blue Dragons are 55-50 overall and have won seven games in a row.
