CASH PLACES FOURTH IN REGION VI HEPTATHLON

HIGHLAND – Hutchinson Community College freshman Tre'juan Cash finished strong on Friday and placed fourth overall at the Region VI Indoor Heptathlon at the Walter's Activities Center.
Entering Day 2 of the competition, Cash moved up two spots to finish fourth with a total of 4,084 points. Cloud County's Denim Rogers broke the Region VI Heptathlon record with 5,226 points.
REGION VI INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS/INFORMATION
Cash's performance is currently 14th in the NJCAA this season, which would qualify him for the NJCAA Indoor championships in March in Lubbock, Texas. Cash scored the first six points for the Blue Dragons in the regional championships.
Cash, on Friday, finished third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.24 seconds to net 775 points. He placed fourth in the pole vault after clearing 10 feet, 1 1/4 inches to score 376 points. He finished the seven-event competition with a fourth-place finish in the 1,000 meters, running 3:17.12 to score 506 points.
On Thursday, Blue Dragon All-American Adriana Janic repeated as Region VI Indoor Pentathlon champion.
The Region VI championships will be off Saturday before reconvening on Sunday at Kansas State's Ahearn Fieldhouse for the open events.
