KANSAS CITY, Missouri – After a rough opening round at the NJCAA Central District Championship on Monday, the No. 2-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's golf team made a 15-stroke improvement in the afternoon round to put itself in position for a 24th-straight trip to the NJCAA Tournament.
The Blue Dragons are in third place after 36 of 54 holes at Tiffany Greens Golf Course at 598. Hutchinson trails first-place Garden City (586) by 12 strokes and second-place Indian Hills (595) by three strokes. The Dragons have an 11-stroke lead over fourth-place Crowder (609) and a 12-stroke lead over fifth-place Barton (610). The top four teams earn automatic bids for the 2025 NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship on May 13-16 at Sand Creek Station in Newton.

The final round of the Central District Championship begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday at Tiffany Greens.
Freshman Corey Scullion is the low Blue Dragon golfer, who is tied for first place individually at 3-under 141. He is tied with Garden City's Ilan Dufrenoy and is the only Blue Dragon in the Top 10 after two rounds.
The Blue Dragons dug an early 15-stroke hole after 18 holes shooting a 17-over 305. The Dragons counted Scullion's 70, Louis Ross' 76, David Razinskas' 79 and Charlie Box's 80.
The Dragons rallied in the afternoon round and posted a 5-over 293, the second-best team round in the second round. Box rebounded with a 70 to lead Hutchinson in the second round. Scullion had a 71, Jack Northgraves carded a 75 and Ross counted with a 77, including an eagle on the final hole of the day.
Scullion had an eagle and two birdies with two bogeys in his opening-round 70. He had five birdies and four bogeys in his round of 71 in the second round. Dufrenoy was at 8-under late in the first round, but finished with rounds of 67 and 74.
Box is tied for 12th after 36 holes at 150. He shot a season-high 80 in the opening round and rebounded with a 2-under 70. He is one stroke out of the Top 10.
Ross is tied for 17th at 153 (76-77). Northgraves is tied for 23rd at 155 (80-75) and Razinskas is 36th at 164 (79-85).
