Coming off one of their best games of the season in a victory over No. 24 Dodge City on Wednesday, the Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team looks to ignite a late-season push toward the postseason.
The Blue Dragons (11-14, 6-13 KJCCC) travels to play the Cloud County Thunderbirds (13-11, 8-10 KJCCC) at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Arley Bryant Gym (Thunderdome) in Concordia, Kansas.
The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 3:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Daren Dunn (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed live and for free on the T-Bird Sports Network at 3:45 p.m.

With five games remaining in the regular season, the Blue Dragons went a long way to securing a postseason spot after defeating No. 24 Dodge City 67-61 on Wednesday. Twelve of the 13 teams in the KJCCC qualify for the Region 6 Tournament. The Blue Dragons are in 11th place, but have a three-game lead over 13th-place Pratt and a two-game lead over 12th-place Colby. The Blue Dragons play host to Colby next Wednesday and Pratt on February 28.
Daleron Thomas led the Blue Dragons in scoring for the sixth time in the last seven games and Chudier Dorar had a double-double to lead Hutchinson to its win over Dodge City on Wednesday, which snapped an eight-game losing streak. Thomas had 19 points and Dorar had 13 points and 13 rebounds, while defensively, the Blue Dragons held Dodge City to 34.8 percent shooting and the league's leading scorer, Derrick Rivers, to 11 points on 2 of 13 shooting.
The Blue Dragons' conference-leading defense has another challenge as Cloud County ranks third in the KJCCC in scoring at 88.5 points per game. Cloud is the third-best shooting team at 46.7 percent.
Cloud County has a balanced offense with five players averaging in double figures scoring. Manassah Stackhouse leads the Thunderbirds at 13.1 points per game.
The Thunderbirds also rank among the best rebounding teams in the KJCCC at 43.7 rebounds per game and are a plus-9.3 in rebounding advantage, which leads the league.
The Blue Dragons shot 51.7 percent from the floor in their 75-62 victory over Cloud County on December 13 at the Sports Arena. Kyrell Shaw had 26 points to lead the Blue Dragons and Dorar had 20 points and nine rebounds. Stackhouse had 23 points to lead Cloud County, which shot only 38.8 percent.
