Cayden Castellanos joins the Blue Dragon Baseball coaching staff for the 2026 season.

Hutchinson will be Castellanos’ first full-time collegiate coaching position. He previously served as a graduate assistant at Pittsburg State University in the fall of 2025.

Castellanos will serve as the Blue Dragon pitching coach.

Castellanos does have Jayhawk Conference ties, playing in the 2023 season at Cloud County Community College for head coach Eric Gilliland.

At Cloud County, he made 16 pitching appearances, including 12 starts. Castellanos had a 3-4 record with a 5.10 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 54 2-3 innings pitched. His best performance was six innings of shutout baseball, allowing four hits and striking out seven in a victory over Barton.

Previous to Cloud County, Castellanos started his collegiate career at Chico State University in 2022. After Cloud County, the right-handed pitcher transferred to Pittsburg State.

Under head coach Bob Fornelli at Pittsburg State, Castellanos became one of the most reliable arms out of the Gorilla bullpen. He made 38 appearances for PSU in his two seasons, posting a 9-4 record in 87 2/3 innings.

In 2025, Castellanos was named an all-MIAA honorable mention relief pitcher after posting a 4-2 record in 54.0 innings for a 4.50 ERA, opponents hitting .257 against him, striking out 39 while issuing only nine walks for a 4.3 strikeout to walk ratio. The 2025 Gorillas advanced to the program’s first super regional in its history.

Born in Mesa, Arizona, Castellanos graduated from Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta, California in 2020. He graduated from Cloud County in 2023 with an Associate of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and graduated from Pittsburg State in 2025 with a Bachelor of science in Exercise Science.

Castellanos is engaged to Emily Ades.
