Only a handful of Hutchinson Community College men's athletes got to complete on what should have been a very busy Day 2 of the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Gowans Stadium.

One of the few Blue Dragon entries to compete posted a season-best time.

The Blue Dragons' 4x100-meter relay team of Eddie Landerus, Aaron Shannon, Malcom Gardner and Kadrin Williams ran a 12th-place preliminary time of 41.24 seconds. That time was a season-best for the relay.

Hutch's 4x800-meter relay finished ninth overall in a time of 8:09.13. Relay members Brandon Kerr, Ishmael Goyco, Isaac Rodriquez and Manny Gonzalez were 11th coming into the weekend.

Only one other Dragon was able to compete before a tornado warning was issued late Friday afternoon.

Jeffrey Muiruri ran his 110-meter hurdle prelim and didn't qualify for the finals after posting a 17th-place qualifying time of 15.09 seconds.

Williams in the 100, Gardner in the 200, Muiruri in the 400 hurdles and Trey Teeter in the javelin were all supposed to compete on Friday, but weather and subsequent schedule change moved all their action to Saturday.
