Hutchinson CC Sports Information

From 2005 to 2015, the biggest women's soccer rivalry in the Jayhawk Conference was Hutchinson vs. Butler.

Saturday's opening round of the Region VI Tournament will see the renewal of that rivalry after a four-year hiatus. Hutchinson (12-3) will play host to Butler (11-5-1) at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Salthawk Sports Complex. The Blue Dragon Sports Network will provide a live video stream of the match.

The Blue Dragons earned a home-field game after finishing second in the Jayhawk West. The Grizzlies were the No. 3 seed out of the Jayhawk East. The Hutchinson/Butler winner will play the Cowley/Dodge City winner October 31 at the highest remaining seed. Hutchinson is seeded third in the tournament with Butler No. 6. Cowley is the No. 2 overall seed and Dodge is the No. 7 seed.

The overall series between Hutchinson and Butler is 9-9. Seven of those meetings have occurred in the postseason, the last in 2014. Hutch is 4-3 against Butler in Region VI matchups.
