The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team returned to the win column with a dominant 7-0 Jayhawk West victory over Northwest Tech on Saturday at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
The Blue Dragons posted their sixth shutout of the season and 145th shutout in team history.
The Dragons sweep Northwest Tech this season and improve to 8-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the Jayhawk West. Hutchinson travels to Jayhawk West leader Barton at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Great Bend.
The Blue Dragons out-shot Northwest Tech 11-1 with all seven shots on goal finding the back of the net for Hutchinson.
Sophomore Brailey Moeder got the game-winner with her goal just 1 minute, 27 seconds into the game. Freshman Angela Rader scored her first goal of the season when she lifted a shot from about 25 yards out for a 2-0 lead in the 15th minute. Waithira had assists on both goals.
The Blue Dragons connected on a set piece to open the second-half scoring in the 62nd minute with Moeder's corner kick was headed in by Venegas for her second goal of the game.
Turner closed out the scoring on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute for a 7-0 lead. The Dragons are 2 for 2 on penalty kicks this season and 39 of 44 all-time in penalty kicks. Turner is the 23rd different Blue Dragon to score on a penalty kick.
Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Camp didn't have to register a save in her fifth shutout of the season.
