Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team won their fourth- and fifth-straight games in a row last week and moved up one spot in Monday's latest NJCAA Women's Division I Basketball rankings.

The Blue Dragons moved up to No. 7 on Monday and remain the highest-ranked Jayhawk Conference team in the rankings.

Hutchinson defeated Neosho County 111-53 last Wednesday at the Sports Arena and then rallied from 10 points down to defeat Butler 73-55 on Saturday to improve to 11-1 overall and 4-0 in the Jayhawk West. The Blue Dragons play their final game of the first semester with a 5:30 p.m. contest against Cloud County at the Sports Arena.

Only one team in the Top 10 loss last week. Shelton State lost to No. 10 Jones and dropped from No. 5 to 12.

Gulf Coast State remains No. 1 at 10-0, followed by South Plains (13-0), Trinity Valley (10-0), Northwest Florida State (11-0) and Central Arizona (9-1).

Seward County is No. 16 this week, while Butler and Colby are receiving votes.

The Blue Dragons have been ranked in 26 consecutive rankings and for the 127th poll in the last 132 ranking periods.
