Hutchinson Community College sophomore guard Kelsey Brett announced that she will continue her playing career and education at Newberry University.
Brett is a 5-foot-11 guard from Adelaide, South Australia. She played in 63 games over the past two seasons, starting six. Brett was part of two Blue Dragon NJCAA Tournament-qualifying teams, including the 2019 NJCAA national semifinal team that finished the season 33-4.
Brett is the sixth member of the Blue Dragon 2019 sophomore class to sign with four-year programs. Brett joins Dejanae Roebuck and Tia Bradshaw, both who signed with UTEP, Jada Mickens and Missouri-Kansas City, Tijuana Kimbro at East Tennessee State and Makayla Johnson at Dixie State.
Over her two-year career at HutchCC, Brett averaged 4.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Overall, Brett shot 39.2 percent, but knocked down 50 career 3-pointers and shot 36.8 percent from distance.
Brett had career highs of four 3-pointers and 14 points against Cowley on February 17, 2018. She had a career-best seven rebounds against the Central Christian JV on November 17, 2018.
