GOODLAND – The No. 4-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team broke the century mark for the fourth time this season and rolled to a Jayhawk West victory on Monday night in head John Ontjes' 400th game as the Blue Dragon head coach.
The Blue Dragons shot 50.0 percent as three players scored in double figures as Hutchison rolled past Northwest Kansas Tech 105-51 in Hutch's first-ever appearance in Max Jones Fieldhouse.
Hutchinson improves to 17-0 overall and 8-0 in the Jayhawk West. Northwest Tech has dropped 17-straight games dating back to last year and fall to 0-16 and 0-8 in the Jayhawk West.
The Blue Dragons now have the fifth-best start to a season and sixth-longest winning streak in program history.
Leading 28-17 after one quarter, Hutchinson outscored Northwest Tech 25-8 in the second quarter to lead 53-25 at halftime. The Dragons outscored Tech 52-26 in the second half to post their third margin of victory of 50 or more points this season.
The Blue Dragons made 38 of 76 field goals, including 12 of 26 from 3-point range and 17 of 20 from the free-throw line. The Mavericks were held to 27.0 percent shooting (17 of 63), including 9 of 35 from 3-point range and 8 of 10 from the foul line.
Sophomore Dejanae Roebuck hit 9 of 14 from the field to score a team-high 21 points. She added five rebounds. Roebuck became the 29th Blue Dragon in team history to score 700 career points (now at 717 points).
Sophomore Tijuana Kimbro had a career-high 14 points with seven rebounds.
N'Dea Flye had a game-high 24 points with 6 of 13 from 3-point range to lead Northwest Tech.
Hutchinson is now 2-0 in its four-game-in-eight-day stretch. Next up is Garden City at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.
