Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Powered by three wins by an average of 43 points, the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team has returned to the Top 5 in the NJCAA Division I Rankings.

Hutchinson moved up two spots in the first poll of 2019 and is No. 4. The 15-0 Blue Dragons leapfrogged former No. 3 Tallahassee and No. 4 Chipola, both which suffered their first losses of the season over the holiday break.

The Blue Dragons return to the Top 5 for the first time since the final poll of the 2016-17 season. Hutchinson has climbed nine spots this season since starting No. 13 in the preseason rankings.

Over the break, the Blue Dragons defeated Iowa Western, Ellsworth and Allen to move to 15-0 and 6-0 in the Jayhawk West.

Hutchinson has now been ranked in 13 consecutive polls and in 114 of the last 119 ranking periods.

Northwest Florida State remains No. 1 in the women's rankings, followed by Trinity Valley. New Mexico Junior College, Hutchinson and South Plains round out the Top 5.

Seward County moved up three spots to No. 11. Butler dropped 10 spots to No. 20 this week.

The Dragons will be off on Wednesday and returns home to meet the Cowley Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Sports Arena.
