Both teams are coming off closer-than-expected battles road battles on Wednesday.

Hutchinson struggled shooting the ball at Neosho County, missing 17 of its first 21 shots attempted. But thanks to a team single-game record 39 made free throws, the Blue Dragons kept the Panthers at arm's length and won 87-78.

Butler had to battle to a 54-51 win at Dodge City.

Earlier this season, the Blue Dragons defeated No. 16 NEO 82-57 in a neutral site game at Great Bend. The Blue Dragons have opened with conference wins over Coffeyville, Independence and Neosho County.

Butler has a pair of wins over nationally ranked teams, defeating No. 19 Iowa Western on November 25 and No. 10 Seward County 76-54, both games played in El Dorado. The Grizzlies have other KJCCC wins over Colby and Dodge City.

Saturday will be the 86th all-time matchup between Hutchinson and Butler. The Blue Dragons own a 55-30 all-time record.
