Hutchinson CC Sports Information

A tough week for the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team saw the Blue Dragons take a freefall in the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Rankings on Tuesday.

The Blue Dragons (20-5) dropped nine spots to No.23 this week.

Hutchison lost 56-48 to Garden City and Butler 57-54 on Saturday, both games at the Sports Arena. The Blue Dragons are now three games behind Seward County for first place in the Jayhawk West with three games to play.

The Blue Dragons have now been ranked in five consecutive polls after a two-week absence in December stopped a run of 89 consecutive polling periods.

Hutchinson and Seward County are the lone Jayhawk Conference representatives in the rankings this week. The Saints are up to No. 6, their highest ranking this season.

Shelton State holds onto the No. 1 spot for the third-straight week. Gulf Coast State is No. 2, followed by Northwest Florida State, New Mexico Junior College and Moberly Area.

Hutchinson plays at Barton on Wednesday and plays host to Cowley for the seventh-annual Pink-Out Night on Saturday.
