MELBOURNE, Fla. – The first two days of the NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship haven't gone according to plan for the Hutchinson Community College men's golf team.

Still, the sixth-ranked Blue Dragons are in a 10th-place tie at the mid-point of the 72-hole championship and are just nine strokes out of sixth place.

The Blue Dragons shot a 294 team score in the second round on Wednesday and are tied with Wallace State at 10-over 586 at the Duran Golf Club. The Blue Dragons continue to be the top Jayhawk Conference team in the field. Dodge City is tied for 12th at 587 and Garden City is tied for 14th at 595.

District III rival Indian Hills shot a team 18-under par in the second round at 270 and leads the tournament after 36 holes at 25-under 551. Day 1 leader New Mexico is second at 555.

Freshman Charlie Herbert is just outside the Top 10 after a second-straight sub-par round on Wednesday. Herbert had four birdies and two bogeys in a round of 70. He is currently at 5-under 139.

Freshman Charlie Crockett is tied for 30th after 36 holes at 1-over 145. Crockett had a 1-over 73 in the second round.

After playing the front nine in 1-under, freshman Peyton Austin struggled with two bogeys and a double bogey with one birdie in a round of 4-over 76. Austin is tied for 74th at 151.

Nathan McCulloch is with Austin for 74th. McCulloch had a 76 on Wednesday and it at 151 for 36 holes.

Sophomore Lake Leroux carded a 78 in the second round and is tied for 96th at 156.

New Mexico's Liam Duncan carded his second-straight 5-under 67 on Wednesday to the individually. He has a two-stroke lead over Indian Hills' Harry Doig.

The Blue Dragons will be paired with New Mexico and Central Alabama again for the third round. The Blue Dragons will tee off from 11:20 a.m. through Noon (CT) for Thursday's third round.
