VALENTINE, Nebraska – Playing against an entire NCAA Division I field, the Hutchinson Community College men's golf team sits 10th after the opening round of South Dakota State's "The Jackrabbit" at the Prairie Club.

The Blue Dragons posted a round of 15-over 303 in tough scoring conditions. Hutchinson is 22 strokes off the pace of team leader Central Florida, which shot a 281. Kansas, Missouri, Missouri State and Idaho round out the Top 5 after the first of three rounds.

The Blue Dragons are ahead of Nebraska-Omaha, SIU-Edwardsville (304 each) and North Dakota (315).

Freshman Nathan McCulloch was the top Blue Dragon golfer on Sunday with a 2-over 74. He had three birdies and five bogeys in his first round. McCulloch is tied for 25th after the opening round.

Charlie Herbert and Peyton Austin are tied for 36th after 4-over 76s. Charlie Crockett is tied for 47th after a 77. J.T. Engelbart had an 87 and is tied for 72nd.

Blue Dragon individual Lake Leroux is tied for 51st after a 78.

Hutchinson will tee off in Round 2 between 10:10 and 10:50 a.m. on Monday and be paired with Nebraska-Omaha and SIU-Edwardsville.
