Hutchinson CC Sports Information

With so few teams playing last week because of the holiday break, there was very little movement to the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Rankings on Tuesday.

The final pre-Christmas rankings have to Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team still at No. 6. The top seven teams in the rankings didn't move from the previous week.

The Blue Dragons have now been ranked for 37 consecutive polling periods and for the 68th time in the last 69 polling periods.

Hutchinson entered the Christmas break on a seven-game winning streak after a victory 82-73 victory over Barton on December 9 at the Sports Arena. The Blue Dragons are 12-1 overall and lead the Jayhawk Conference by one game over Barton and Coffeyville at 8-1.

Northwest Florida State continues to be the unanimous No. 1 selection in the rankings at 14-0. The Raiders received all 16 first-place votes. Vincennes, Indian Hills, Salt Lake and Eastern Florida State round out the Top 5.

For the second-straight week, there are three Jayhawk Conference teams in the rankings. Coffeyville (11-2) dropped one spot to No. 18. Barton (11-2) climbed four spots to No. 21.

The next poll will be released on January 9.

Before that, the Blue Dragons will play two games. Hutchinson returns from the holiday break with a January 3 road trip to Cowley and a January 6 home game against Allen at the Sports Arena.
