Since Sam Pittman orchestrated the turnaround of Blue Dragon football in 1993, Hutchinson Community College has sent 162 players into NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I) schools.
Another 154 Blue Dragons have signed with NCAA Bowl Championship Sub-Division (Division I-AA) or Division II schools or with NAIA colleges since 1998.
HutchCC has, since 1998, had an average of 12 players move on to four-year schools. Since 1993, 85 Blue Dragon alums have gone on to play in what is now called the Power 5 conferences.
In 2012, 13 HCC players went to FCS programs, including a single-season program record of nine to BCS teams.
The 2017 Blue Dragons had 33 players signed to play at a four-year program.
