Hutchinson CC Sports Information

An eight-point loss to the No. 2 team in the nation didn't hurt the Hutchinson Community College football team much in the latest NJCAA Rankings.

Hutchinson dropped just one spot to No. 12 after last Saturday's 33-24 loss to second-ranked Iowa Western at Gowans Stadium.

The Blue Dragons (2-1, 1-0 Jayhawk Conference) play host to Fort Scott at noon Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

Hutchinson is the second-highest ranked of five Jayhawk Conference teams in the Top 20 this week. Garden City (2-0) is No. 6. After the Blue Dragons, Independence (1-1) is No. 13, Coffeyville (2-1) is No. 17 and Butler (1-1) is No. 21. Highland (2-1) is receiving votes.

The Top seven teams all remained the same in this week's rankings. East Mississippi is still No. 1 and garnering 11 of 17 first-place votes. Iowa Western is getting the other six.

The Blue Dragons opened the 2018 season receiving votes in the preseason poll, but a 2-0 start had Hutch at No. 11 in the first regular-season rankings.
