The Hutchinson Community College football team plays a second-straight non-Jayhawk Conference game on Saturday when Rezolution Prep Academy comes to Gowans Stadium for a Noon kickoff.
The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5). The veteran broadcast staff of Rusty Hilst (play-by-play), Rob Dreher (analysis) and Glen Grunwald (sidelines) will call the action. The broadcast begins at 11:30 a.m. with Countdown to Kickoff.
The game will also be videostreamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network (www.bluedragonsports.com).
Hutchinson is 1-1 overall heading into Saturday's contest with the Wildcats. The Dragons were one play away from being 2-0, but a would-be go-ahead touchdown with 3 seconds remaining against No. 12 Iowa Western was wiped out by a penalty and 10-second runoff on the clock and Hutchinson fell to the nationally-ranked Reivers.
The Blue Dragons once again fell behind quickly against the Reivers, trailing 14-0 just 5 minutes into the game. But unlike the week before when Hutch had to rally from 25 points down to defeat Coffeyville in the biggest comeback in team history, the Dragons allowed only one more touchdown to Iowa Western. The Dragons trailed 21-7 at halftime and allowed the high-powers Reivers to only two field goals in the second half.
Rezolution Prep is located in Arlington, Texas. The Wildcats were a late-summer schedule fill-in for the Blue Dragons after another opponent was unable to play.
Saturday is Rezolution Prep's first official game. The Wildcats have played two preseason contests against Coffeyville and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Hutchinson game will be the second of three trips to Kansas for Rezolution Prep. The Wildcats will play at Baker University in Baldwin City on Sept. 18.
Saturday's game will be the 73rd game in Blue Dragon football history against non-NJCAA competition. The Blue Dragons are 56-16 in such games. This will be the 34th-straight season the Blue Dragons will play at least one non-NJCAA opponent.
After Saturday, the Blue Dragons will potentially play two NJCAA-ranked opponents. Next Saturday the Dragons head to No. 3 and defending national champion Garden City. Hutch will play host to No. 19 Highland in two weeks.
