Scott Reller is in his sixth season as Blue Dragon Baseball’s pitching coach.

A former Blue Dragon pitcher, Reller came back to Hutchinson before the 2015 season after five seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Central Missouri.

Since coming to Hutchinson, Reller had mentored one Jayhawk West Pitcher of the Year (Max Simpson) and five all-Jayhawk West pitchers. Twice under Reller’s watch, the Blue Dragon pitching staff has broken season records for strikeouts. The 2016 Blue Dragons set a then-program record for strikeouts in a season with 463. The 2019 Blue Dragons obliterated that mark with 652 strikeouts.

The Blue Dragons are 202-87 in Reller’s first five seasons.

While at Central Missouri, Reller and the Muleskinners had an incredibly successful run that included four MIAA regular-season championships, three MIAA Tournament championships, four NCAA regional appearances and two trips to the NCAA Division II World Series.

Posting a record of 220-59 at Central Missouri, Reller coached three honorable-mention Division II All-Americans, 18 first-team All-MIAA performers, three MIAA Players of the Year, two MIAA Pitchers of the Year, three selected player in the Major League Draft and 12 players who are playing professionally.

Reller was a Blue Dragon in 2006 and 2007, playing for head coach Kyle Crookes’ 2006 Jayhawk West championship team. Coming out of the bullpen, Reller was 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA as a sophomore.

From Hutchinson, Reller moved onto the University of Central Missouri for the 2008 and 2009 seasons under head coach Tom Myers. Reller’s 2008 Muleskinner team finished third at the NCAA Division II World Series

Reller is a native of Columbia, Missouri and a 2005 graduate of Rock Bridge High School. He graduated from Hutchinson Community College in 2007 with an Associate of Science degree and graduated from Central Missouri in 2009 with his bachelors in Exercise Science. Reller received his Masters from Central Missouri in 2012 in Exercise Science.
