Freshman forward Danielle Sheehy had her fourth four-goal game on Wednesday to lead the No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team to a 7-0 Jayhawk Conference victory over Coffeyville in the final regular-season home game of 2012 on Wednesday at the USD 308 Athletic Complex.

Sheehy scored her seventh hat trick of the season; her first in four games had her third 10-point game of the season. She added a pair of assists to complete her day. Sheehy moved into second place on the single-season points list (83) and goals list (33) and is third on the single-season assists list (17).

This is the 13th time a Lady Dragons has had a 10-point game, the fourth time this season.

Sheehy scored the game’s first three goals, two assisted by sophomore Melissa Hetherington and one unassisted, as Hutchinson (13-0, 11-0 Jayhawk Conference) led 3-0 at halftime. She added a goal and two assists in the second half as HCC tacked on four more goals. This was Sheehy’s sixth game-winning goal.

Hetherington added a goal and two assists to increase her career records to 142 points and 55 goals.

Sophomore Andrea Thompson scored her third of the season and freshman Stephany Cushing added her ninth. Freshman Courtney Gahagan had her eighth assist of the season and sophomore Shelbi Otte had her third assist.

The Lady Dragons out-shot Coffeyville 39-3 and 20-1 in shots on goal. Coffeyville keeper Cheyenne Forshey had 13 saves.

Hutchinson posted its 11th shutout of the season and 92nd all-time shutout.

Sophomore Eunice Figueroa (9-0) earned the victory and recorded the only save of the game for HCC. Sophomore Emily Soza played the second half. Figueroa is now sixth on HCC’s single-season wins list and she won her 22nd career game, which ties Michelle McElroy for second on the career wins list.

The showdown is now set. Top-ranked Hutchinson travels to No. 6 Butler at 3 p.m. on Sunday in a match that will go a long way to decide the 2012 Jayhawk Conference championship. The match will be carried on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.

GAME NOTES – This was Hutchinson’s sixth-straight victory over Coffeyville. HCC is now 9-1 all time vs. Coffeyville, outscoring the Red Ravens 63-4 with nine shutouts. … Danielle Sheehy is now ranked seventh in career points (83), fifth in career goals (33) and is 10th in career assists (17). … Melissa Hetherington is fourth in single-season points (56), eighth in single-season goals (19) and second in single-season assists (18).
