
For the second time this season, Hutchinson Community College freshman outside hitter Teresa Wade was named the Jayhawk West Player of the Week.
Wade, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from St. John, posted season highs in kills, hitting percentage and digs during a 3-2 week for the 19th-ranked Lady Dragons.
For the week, Wade hit .284, averaging 3.22 kills and 2.28 digs per set.
At the Lady Dragon Classic, Wade rebounded well from a negative-hitting percentage in the first match to average 4.3 kills and hit .327 over the final three matches of the tournament.
In a sweep of Frank Phillips, Wade had a season-high 16 kills and hitting percentage of .517. Against Jefferson College, she had had a season-high 17 digs.
This is the third time the Lady Dragons have won the weekly Jayhawk West honor. Wade has one it twice to join Jade Nelson, who won the award in Week 1.
Verizon and the Jayhawk Conference are in the third year of a partnership to honor the Jayhawk Conference’s weekly Players of the Week.
Wade is now eligible for NJCAA national player of the week. That award will be announced on Wednesday.
