
With a double-double against Seward County in a key Jayhawk West victory on Saturday, Hutchinson Community College freshman outside hitter Teresa Wade was named the Jayhawk Conference Division I Volleyball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Wade was steady in two victories for Hutchinson (5-2) last week, including posting her third double-double of the season in a key conference victory over Seward County. Against the Saints, Wade had a team-high 12 kills and 14 digs.
For the week, the freshman from St. John hit .372, while averaging 2.71 kills and 2.29 digs per set. For the season, Wade is hitting .296 with 2.68 kills per set. She is also averaging 2.00 digs per set.
Wade is the second Lady Dragon to earn weekly conference volleyball honors, joining sophomore Jade Nelson.
Verizon and the Jayhawk Conference are in the third year of a partnership to honor the Jayhawk Conference’s weekly Players of the Week.
Wade is now eligible for NJCAA national player of the week. That award will be announced on Wednesday.
