Hobart-Detter Field, long known as one of the premiere natural grass fields in the state of Kansas, has been the home of Blue Dragon baseball since the program’s inception in 1975.
The Blue Dragons have won three Region VI championships and brought the 2010 NJCAA World Series third-place trophy back to Hobart-Detter Field.
In addition to the Blue Dragons, Hobart-Detter Field is also the home of the Hutchinson Monarchs summer collegiate team and the old Hutch Broncs in the 1970s and early ’80s. The Broncs were the summer home of several future major league players and the 1984 U.S. National Baseball team played at Hobart-Detter Field.
In 1999, Hobart-Detter Field was the site of a Wichita State-Kansas State baseball game and has also been a secondary site for the NBC World Series.
Hobart-Detter Field is a natural grass surface and the infield was re-done in the fall of 2015.
